Rationalization of structures for protection of tundish during steel casting in continuous casting machines

Abstract

The issues of rationalization of designs for protection of the tundish equipment are considered: technologies of the process of pouring liquid steel and designs for protection of the tundish side from the flow of liquid metal on the way from the steel-pouring ladle (SPL) to the tundish (TD). Mathematical modeling of steel movement is carried out. Analysis of the modeling results showed the need to modernize the designs of the receiving chamber of the tundish. The created designs allow rational placement of steel flows in the receiving chamber of the tundish and exclude intensive erosion of the side gunning mass and the appearance of non-metallic inclusions in the liquid metal.
