Abstract

The present paper describes a developed analyzing system of roll surface during the process of continuous hot dip zinc coated steel sheet production line, in particular, adhering problem by transferred inclusions from roll to steel sheet surface during annealing process so called the pickup. The simulated test machine for coated roll surface in processing line has been designed and performed. The system makes it possible to analyze roll surface condition according to pickup phenomena from various roll coatings concerning operating conditions of hearth rolls in annealing furnace. The algorithm of fast pickup detection on surface is developed on the base of processing of several optical images of surface. The parameters for quality estimation of surface with pickups were developed. The optical system for images registration and image processing electronics may be used in real time and embed in processing line.

Abstract

The possibilities of quality management of  castings internal surfaces are analyzed. It is shown that the parameters of mould core tooling and external action factors can have essential additional influence on the quality of castings internal surfaces.

Abstract

The analysis of the electroslag remelting (ESR) process schemes was carried out. For heat-resistant material on the basis of chromium chosen scheme crucible ESR with nonconsumable bifilar electrodes. Developed and manufactured laboratory plant for studying the processes of electroslag remelting crucible chromium-based alloys. Samples from chromium based alloy were obtained.

Abstract

The known theories and approaches explaining the nature of formation process of a metal penetration (burning-in) on a surface of steel and iron castings are described in the article. The methods and materials which are applied in antistick coatings and in the molding sand mixtures for prevention of defect formation is also given in the paper.

Abstract

It is shown that melt of cast iron of the eutectic structure consist of austenite nanocrystals, graphite, acementite and atoms of iron. Processof melting and crystallization of cast iron is difficult physical and chemical nanoprocess. Thermodynamic it is established that this process generally is defined by intensity of diffusion of atoms of carbon and speed of hardening of cast iron.

Abstract

The research aimed at figuring out dependence of the technological properties (density, thickness of the coating, reduced strength and sedimentation stability) of the suspensions for nonstick coatings on the for activation time powder quartz graphite filler. It is shown that with increasing activation time to 10 minutes all the basic properties of graphite suspension powder quartz were improved. The paper presents the results of comparative studies of technological properties of suspensions of activated graphite oxide compositions prepared on the basis of activated aluminum oxide and periclase. The resulting suspension may be recommended for cast iron and non-ferrous castings.

Abstract

The description of physical model of process of impact of electric field on process of modifying of an alloy is stated. Major factors of the processing electric current arising from imposing on metal fusion of electric field are considered. The mechanism of influence of energy of electric field and power interaction of free current carrier with the centers of crystallization of an alloy is shown. The periodicity of stages of modifying of gray cast iron is offered. Results of impact of electric field on mechanical properties of cast iron depending on the content of silicon in the modifier are yielded. Influence of thermotemporary processing of fusion of the modified steel on its strength properties is shown.

Abstract

It is shown that crystallization of the main phases in cast iron happens on the dendritic mechanism. The main phases when hardening cast iron are dendrites of austenite, graphite and a cementite. Thermodynamic it is established that spherical graphite represents strongly branched compact dendrite with a sectorial and layered structure.

Abstract

Application of nanomaterials for grain refining of metals and its allac is of great interest as it aimis achieveto higher physicalmechanical properties in finished parts. Analysis shows that to gain high effectiveness of nanoparticles it is important to provide proper input of these particles into alloying alloy. The aim of present research is study of initial nanoparticles structure on the base of titanium, boron, yttrium and carbon nanotubes as well as development of method to manufacture alloying alloys containing nanoparticles.

Investigations of nanopowders phase compositions on the base of titanium, boron and yttrium have shown that active elements such as boron carbide, titanium carbide and nitride, yttrium oxide are base compounds of these nanopowders. Powder particles are formed by primary structural elements having mainly plate state (titanium and boron carbides) and containing equiaxial inclusions with sizes of 5–200 nm. Chemical composition of specimens synthesized is uniform and contains 98.0 – 99.5% of main compound.

Results of metal-protector and nanoparticles mixing have revealed that the increase of mixing duration from 2 to 6 hours assist to more uniform elements distribution through the pellet volume. Applying extrusion method specimens of alloying alloys have been produced and elements distribution in cross-section and longitudinal directions were determined.

Analysis of research implemented has shown that distribution of active nanopowders in matrix is more uniform in extruded alloying alloys specimens compared to ones produced by methods of sintering or pressing of powder mixtures.

Abstract

It is suggested to use steel shot with the structure of tempered martensite for smelt modifying in the capacity of carriermodifier. It was applied barrier nickel layer and then wolfram nano-coating (over 200 nm) along with protective cobalt layer, which prevents interreaction of oxygen with wolfram surface. Introduction of the modifier creates subcooling zone. When it interreacts with smelt the process of active mixing of the modifier with the smelt takes place. Subsequent crystallization carries involving large number of crystallization centers, which leads to reduction in the structure graininess and velocity and plasticity increase by 2–3 times.

Abstract

The paper discusses determination of materials porosity by the method of comparison defined in the standard GOST 9391–80 «Hard sintered alloys. Methods used for porosity and microstructure determination». The necessity and possibility of porosity assessment by the method of computer planimetry are shown. Using GOST 9391 standard scales the porosity was determined by means of the «Image SP» program for processing of images. It is shown that the error of determining the porosity is associated with a low quality of graphic material which also makes difficult determination of porosity by the method of comparison.

Abstract

The technology for obtaining of porous powder materials with frame structure on the basis of spherical particles of titanium powder, using application of technological coatings of Тi (Si+Мо), (Si+С) or (W+С) was developed. Formation of the powder with the coating was conducted in molding die under the pressure below the flow limit (under 200 MPa). Reaction sintering in a vacuum furnace was carried out at the temperature of 900 оС with the exposure within 1 hour, which allowed receiving penetration factor over 39·10–13 m2 with the formation of powder porous materials with isotropic structure and increased properties.

The method of system analysis of gating systems designed on the basis of modeling of artificial spatial images temperatures melt filling the form. On the example of the calculated statistical distributions show the sensitivity of the input parameters of artificial image of the temperature field from process time such parameters as the ratio of the gating system feeder, slag catcher and strut.
